Wouldn't it be great to stay ahead of pain instead of trying to play catch up once cumulative tension and soreness have settled in?  That's what Wellness services are all about.  By being proactive in our health, we can keep tissue supple, keep our nervous system "happy," and maintain a level of fitness that allows us to be as active as we'd like.  Phileo Health is pleased to offer the following services to keep symptoms at bay:

Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork

Bodywork is defined as “a general term for therapeutic methods that center on the body for the promotion of physical health and emotional and spiritual well-being, including massage, various systems of touch and manipulation, relaxation techniques, and practices designed to affect the body's energy flow.”  As licensed physical therapists, our training includes therapeutic massage, and massage is actually my (Jessie's) favorite treatment modality!  As my hands do the walking, we can do some talking (if that is relaxing for you), giving us the chance to connect in a way that fosters well-being and healing.  By including bodywork as part of my business model, a unique continuum of care can be established following physical therapy intervention to maintain the tissue pliability and balance achieved through physical therapy.  Dawn Cripe is also available and highly skilled in therapeutic massage! 

Basic Fitness and Intro to Pilates

Whether you have been working out for years or are just deciding it's time to try the "exercise thing," we can tailor an exercise program specifically for you.  Wellness services are a perfect place to start if you have a complicated medical history or just feel like you need extra guidance in establishing a plan.  Once exercise is integrated into your life, you may be ready for more.  We have great connections to several local personal trainers and can work with you to determine if a group class, more intense one-on-one training, or possibly a competition of some sort is your next step.

Performance Enhancement

Whether you are trying to set a personal record in a local 10K or complete your first Iron Man, having the correct muscle balance between your big movers and your deep stabilizers is important.  There are also balance and agility skills that are often under-developed in endurance athletes that can take your performance to a whole new level of precision and efficiency.  Afterall, what is running but a series of single-leg-stance balance drills, x 1,000s?!  Performance Enhancement services are specifically tailored to your ability, goals and dreams.  We bridge the gap with common sense and even FUN exercises to take you to the next level.
